AS Roma join Napoli in race to sign Juventus defender

Martin Caceres’ season is over as the Uruguay International picked up a serious injury which has been sideling him since last January. Having his contract expiring in June, however, negotiations to sign him as a free agent in the summer has just begun.

As we previously reported, Napoli are leading the way to sign the former Barcelona man as the player’s agent Daniel Fonseca met Napoli’s Sporting Director Giuntoli earlier last week.

However, reports from Sky Sport Italia suggest AS Roma have pounced on the player and want to steal him from under the Partenopei’s noses.

The Italian broadcasters have gone into further details adding that Sabatini has also met Daniel Fonseca in a four-hour-long meeting.

The Giallorossi already tried to sign Caceres this past January, but Juventus rejected all offers for their polyvalent defender, something they cannot do any more from now on as the 28-year-old  can join any other side for free at the end of the season.

AS Roma and Napoli could be two possible solutions for Caceres’ future, unless Juve will propose him to extend his stay at the J Stadium.
