Are Inter repeating the Duncan mistake with Gnoukouri?
Remember when Inter Milan were happy to give away Alfred Duncan for just under €3 million, only to see him scored a screamer against AC Milan and triple in value?
There's a problem at Inter: though the club invests a packet in its youth setup, it tends to use its youth in order to swap them for more experienced players. Something that has frankly not worked in the last few years, and a mistake Inter can't afford to make again.
And yet it looks like they are: Assane Gnoukouri is one of the most promising youngsters in the pipeline, and acquitted himself reasonably last season when he played for the Nerazzurri A team. Yet Roberto Mancini doesn't play him, and prefers Gary Medel and Felipe Melo (!!) to him.
Duncan and he have a lot in common: young, energetic, good frame, but technique that needs improving. Eusebio Di Francesco, however, did wonders to help him grow from a tactical perspective. Why didn't Inter keep him and do the same?
Know who Inter got instead of Duncan? Zravdko Kuzmanovic. We rest our case.
