Agent goes behind the scenes of Inter transfers
Battistini has been intermediary in the long-lasting negotiation between Inter and Turkish giants Galatasaray for the transfer of former Juventus’ Felipo Melo at San Siro
“The talks between the two parts have been incredibly long. Lot of time have been lost and that made the situation quite nervous. Anyway, neither of the two sides never lost any patience and we managed to reach our target.”
Galatasaray’s aim, by the way, was not to sell the former Brazil International as they also renewed his contract a few weeks before his departure.
“They [Galatasaray] didn’t want to sell Melo at any cost, but the player’s will prevailed. He turned down a really wealthy offer to join Inter, that’s not a common behavior and I don’t know why none talks about it. Felipe Melo and Roberto Mancini’s roles in this negotiations have been massive. They both wanted to be at the same club again and this made the difference as well as Piero Ausilio’s (Inter Sporting Director) and the player’s agent patience.”
According to Battistini, Inter were very close to sign another big name in Serie A: Genoa’s star Diego Perotti.
“I have been working till the deadline to find a Serie A club that would be suitable for Perotti’s ambitions. I have been in talk with many Italian clubs, but the closest side were Inter again. At the beginning of the transfer market the Nerazzurri could not close a deal as quickly as it was necessary. Ausilio made a new bid in the last days, but then it was too late for Genoa to replace him.”
