Zenit: 'Witsel's fault that Juventus move fell through'
The Belgian international was reported to have wanted the move, but Zenit Saint Petersburg have a different version.
“It’s the player’s fault,” director Maxim Mitrofanov told the Gazzetta dello Sport today, “first he didn’t want to leave, then yes, then no, then yes again two days before the transfer deadline.
“We were looking for a replacement, but couldn’t find one”.
This clashes with what we’ve heard about the Belgian who, whilst admittedly changing his mind during the project, had also renounced to his signing bonus in order to join the Turinese side.
