Witsel: ‘I will play for Juventus’

Belgium International Axel Witsel has confirmed that he’s going to be a Juventus player in the near future. The Zenit St. Petersburg ace has released an interview with DH, confirming that the Serie A giants will become his next club.

“I am very happy that a club like Juventus have not given up on me. I know I’ll play for them, though Istill  don’t know when I’ll be joining them. It could be January or June.”

True, Witsel is going to join Juventus, but do we exactly know when? Not yet, unfortunately for Juventus fans. The 27-year-old midfielder has agreed personal terms with the Old Lady last summer, but his move to the J Stadium collapsed in the deadline day as Zenit unexpectedly changed their mind and refused to sell the player to Juventus for € 18 million.

The Serie A giants will try to sign Witsel in the January transfer window, though they are not open  to invest more than € 6 million for a player that could join the club for free at the end of the season.

If Zenit fails to agree the player’s transfer fee in the winter transfer window, Juventus will sign Witsel as a free agent in June.

A recent report of Eurosport, however, claims that Zenit are not going to accept Juventus' proposal in January and that Witsel is going to sign for the bianconeri at the end of the current campaign.
