Why Juventus need to sign Thiago Silva
The player’s agent told calciomercato.com a few weeks ago that his client may not extend his stay at the club, if they fail to get Champions League qualification this season, while Giuseppe Marotta has revealed that the situation of the Brazilian defender is similar to the one of Piro a few years ago. “Many thought he was done with football - Marotta told Italian media yesterday - but he turned up being a very good deal for us.”
Thiago Silva would be a good signing for Juventus despite the impressive depth of the bianconeri in defence.
Every now and then, Max Allegri sweats over the fitness of Giorgio Chiellini who skipped 15 games due to muscle injuries last term. The same goes for Benatia. The Morocco International had been sidelined for one month before his recent return to the pitch.
What about Andrea Barzagli and Patrice Evra? They’ve been so reliable for Juventus in the last few seasons, but they are both 35-year-old and Juventus are already considering making bids for their possible heirs.
Daniele Rugani is fit and young, but still not ready to start on a regular basis for the Old Lady, Leonardo Bonucci has offers from the Premier League.
For all these reasons, the arrival of Thiago Silva would be a tremendous addition to the bianconeri squad. Competition to sign the Brazilian defender, however, will be fierce as Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan are also keeping tabs on the 32-year-old defender.
