Why AS Roma should sell Miralem Pjanic this summer
On the one hand the Belgium International doesn’t want to leave the giallorossi and the club’s request for the player is € 45 million at least.
On the other hand, Pjanic’s release clause is set to € 38 million and with his contract expiring in June 2017, the upcoming transfer window is the last chance that La Lupa has to monetize the player’s exit, not to mention that Pjanic’s release clause will be automatically lowered to € 28 million from August 2016, until the expiration date of his deal.
Pjanic joined AS Roma from Lyon for a fee of € 11 million back in 2011 and his economical impact on the club’s balance sheet is € 4.5 million. Selling him for the release clause (€ 38 million) would allow AS Roma to register a capital gain of € 34 million, helping the club to respect the FFP parameters.
In addition to that, the giallorossi would also save the money of the player’s salary (€ 18 million gross), registering a total capital gain of € 56 million: that’s how much AS Roma would earn from Pjanic’s sale.
