Who is Leonel Vangioni? All you need to know about Milan’s next left-back
Vangioni, 28, is a left-back who joined River Plate from Newell’s Old Boys back in 2013 and has played 110 games with the Millionarios since then (5 goals, 7 assists, 31 yellow cards and one red) . Vangioni can also play as left winger.
He is a product of the Club Atletico Riberas de Paranà, his hometown club, where Vangioni would like to end his playing career.
“I’ve always been saying that I will come back playing for the club that I love [at the end of my career]. I will never forget where I am coming from”, Vangioni has recently revealed.
As we have already mentioned, Vangioni joined River in 2013, when he won the first silverware of his career. The most important trophy that he has lifted during his time at River, by the way, is definitely the Copa Libertadores won last season after beating Mexican side Tigre UANL 3-0 on aggregate in the final.
Actually, that is such an important memory for the player that he has a tattoo of the Copa Libertadores trophy on his right calf.

The player will probably join Milan as a free agent next June, but River Plate’s president Rodolfo D’Onofrio revealed yesterday that there is still little chance to see Vangioni moving to San Siro in the current transfer campaign.
“I know Serie A very well as I always watch Italian league games on TV. I think I can play there and Milan is a club that I really admire”, Vangioni revealed a few months ago.
“Riberas are in my heart, River on my skin and Milan in my mind”.
