Who is Grigoris Kastanos: The Juventus starlet scouted by Man Utd - VIDEO -
Many would think that the Red Devils want to take their revenge on Juventus after that the bianconeri bought Paul Pogba from the Old Trafford outfit back in 2012, with the Frenchman who become one of the world’s best midfielder during a four-year spell at the J Stadium, before returning to his old club in a world-record transfer fee this summer.
Kastanos, like Pogba, is a centre midfielder but, unlikely the French ace, he can also play as wide player or attacking midfielder. Despite his young age (18), Kastanos has already three appearances with senior Cyprus national team having made his debut on the 28th of March 2015 in a 5-0 defeat against Belgium in a Euro 2016 qualifier tie.
A product of Enosis academy, Kastaons moved to Juventus in summer 2014 registering two appearances with the U-17 squad and 46 (with 12 goals and four assists) with the Primavera team coached by Italy 2006 World Cup hero Fabio Grosso.
He can either play as centre or attacking midfielder. In this position he netted three goals in eight appearances in last season’s UEFA Youth Leauge. According to transfermarkt, his market value is € 350.000, just a bit more than how much Juventus spent to sign Pogba four years ago. Will the Cyprus International travel the opposite direction?
Kastanos also featured with senior Juventus squad in the first friendly game if the season against South China. You can have a look at his performance in one of the videos below which also shows his technical skills.
