Vidal: ‘Bayern are much better than Juventus’

    • Edo Dalmonte @edodalmonte
Arturo Vidal is a legend in Turin: ever since arriving at Juventus in the summer of 2011, the Chilean did nothing but win in the league, playing a key role in helping secure four consecutive Scudetti, as well as two Italian Supercups, one Coppa Italia… and second place in last season’s Champions League.

Yet for all his popularity, the Chilean international has come in for some justified slack today, after claiming that current club Bayern Munich is “much better”  than the Old Lady.

“Bayern are much better than Juventus,” Vidal told Goal.com.

“Though the Bianconeri are a great team too, we have some of the best players in the world, even I’ve improved a lot”.

That last statement may puzzle some, as the 28–year-old has yet to fully convince Bayern fans that he was truly worth a hefty €37 million investment. Then again, he’s netted three goals and provided 5 assists in 20 appearances in all competitions with the Bavarians, and has improved after an unconvincing start.

This argument harks back to Gianluigi Buffon's statements made after the Old Lady's exciting 1-0 win over Manchester City. The former Parma legend claimed that "we're in there [the Champions League sweepstakes] too: after Barcelona and Bayern, we can play on even terms with almost everyone".
