Verona: Di Carlo and Ballardini options if Mandorlini goes
On the hotseat for weeks, Mandorlini was under immense pressure to turn Verona's season around with a positive result against a resurgent Bologna on Saturday.
Instead, Serie A's only winless side stumbled to another messy defeat, losing 2-0 to Bologna at the Bentegodi.
And now it appears that the club is considering either Davide Ballardini or Domenico Di Carlo in case it decides not to renew its faith in the former Sassuolo manager.
Mandorlini did a brilliant job in promoting Verona and stunning Serie A with a wonderful first season among the elite in 2013-2014, when the Scaligeri finished in 8th place.
Following a respectable finish last season, however, the former Inter defender has struggled mightily this year, and he hasn't been helped by Luca Toni's injury.
Then again, Mandorlini's repeated angling for more control has arguably weakened the team, with former Sporting Director Sean Sogliano's departure depriving the team of the man who had helped Mandorlini build a strong squad.
