Vazquez reneges on Azzurri: 'I feel Argentinian, Italy a fallback option'
Former Palermo playmaker Franco Vazquez has just released an interview to Argentine magazine El Grafico, in which El Mudo claims that he only picked Italy because Argentina had snubbed him.
"I feel Argentine. When I got the chance to play for Italy, Argentina's Coach at the time closed the door in my face, and I accepted Italy's approach".
Called up on March 31st by now-Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, the Seville midfielder played a total of 61 minutes against England and Portugal.
Though Ventura is considering a call-up, he isn't the only one: current Albiceleste Coach Edgardo Bauza has also said that he's "one of the sixty players we're following and taking into consideration. He could be called up".
Just like Diego Costa, playing a friendly isn't enough to exclude Vazquez from representing another country, and a return to Argentina is very much possible.
It lookes like Ventura, who will announce his lineup this weekend, will have a tough time making a decision about Vazquez.
