Unai Emery describes when he sent Carlos Bacca home from training

Fourteen goals in Serie A, 16 in all competitions. Carlos Bacca is AC Milan’s leading scorer this season. Everyone knows his story and how his career begun, but today his former manager Unai Emery revealed something just a few people knew.

“One day I replaced him in the 60th minutes because I needed to give him some rest. When we went into the dressing room at the end of the game I asked him if he was ok, but he was just mumbling.”

“He also refused to have a cold shower (which is mandatory at the end of each game). The following day I asked him to give me an explanation for that and he just replied he was not tired at all, so he didn’t need to have a cold shower.”

“I sent him home from training straight away, telling him to come back on Wednesday, which is what he did.”

“That day he told me he was sorry as soon as he entered the dressing room and everything ended there.”

“Carlos can transform the dressing room. He’s great and I’ve learned a lot from him. Sometimes, when he was not playing well, he used to gave me a dirty look, but he always works hard and gives everything for the team.”

Today’s edition of Tuttosport reveals Unai Emery and Carlos Bacca could work together again next season as AC Milan have shortlisted the Spanish tactician as a possible replacement of Sinisa Mihajlovic, though Christian Brocchi and Eusebio Di Francesco have also been linked with the Rossoneri job.
