33-year old Mark van Bommel is a Milan player. Bayern Monaco officially announced it on their website. The Dutch player had the contract rescinded by the German club, the contract that expired June 30, 2011.

The decision this morning after a joint meeting between the President of Bayern, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Karl Hopfner, market man, and sporting director Christian Nerlinger: "It was an explicit request of Mark, who wanted to go straight to Milan - said Rumenigge - Mark has always been a professional, a successful player and a great captain for us. And that's why we met his request".

Mark van Bommel said: "I leave Bayern with a heavy heart, but a head held high. I had four and a half beautiful and successful years and I would like to express my gratitude to the club and fans." Bayern Monaco will always occupy a great part of my heart".
