Roberto Mancini is desperately looking to make Inter fans smile, and getting a right-back in the next transfer window could well be key to this.

With former Barcelona fullback Martin Montoya utterly failing to convince him so far, Mancini could be on the lookout for an alternative, especially as Montoya has yet to play a single minute this season, even missing a call-up for Inter’s friendly with Chiasso, though the Spaniard does have the flu.

With the 24-year-old Montoya likely to be sent back to Spain (he’s on loan from Barcelona anyway), Piero Ausilio is likely to chase an alternative to Davide Santon, as the Nerazzurri would need a second option on the right side of their defence, where Danilo D’Ambrosio struggles to fit the bill.

According to Telelombardia, that alternative could be Udinese’s Silvan Widmer, who is also on Juventus’ radar. With countryman Stefan Lichtsteiner likely out for a while he tries to overcome cardiac arrhythmia and Martin Caceres struggling, the Old Lady could do with another option at right-back.

The Swiss youngster, who played well last season, has seen his place in the starting XI be taken by Brazilian Edenilson, who joined in the summer from Genoa.

“My client would be happy to move to [Juve and Inter],” agent Fredy Strasser told Telelombardia.

“But he currently has a contract with Udinese and it doesn’t depend from us agents.

“That said, there could be developments over the next few days.

"I have to emphasize that Stefan’s contract with Udinese expires in 2019, so someone would have to pay for him, he won’t be available for nothing in June”.
