Three reasons why Fernando to Zenit is still a complicated deal

We’ve already reported about Mircea Lucescu’s desire to reunite with his former  player at Shaktar Fernando now that the experienced coach has been appointed as Zenit St. Petersburg boss.

However, calciomercato.com has exclusively learned the three reasons why seeing the Brazilian midfielder wearing the Russian team’s shirt next season is still a complicated matter.

First of all Zenit have far too many foreign players in their squad. As also Sampdorianews.net reports, Russian clubs can play with a maximum of six footballers on the pitch at the same time and they are already deploying three in midfield (Witsel, Mauricio, Javi Garcia).

Lucescu would need to sell players prior to buying some new ones and Sampdoria would prefer to close the deal after EURO 2016, whilst Zenit are interested in welcoming the player before the French tournament as the Russian league begins in July.

There is also an economic reason behind this complicated deal. Sampdoria aim to cash in € 8 million, double than what they spent to sign the Brazilian midfielder last summer.
