The best players available on a free transfer this summer
Cm.com has shortlisted the best players available for nothing in the current transfer window.
SERIE A – The most popular name for the goalkeeping role is Morgan De Sanctis who played for AS Roma last season. The Italian goalkeeper doesn’t want to retire and is waiting for a new club to call him. Facundo Roncaglia left Fiorentina yesterday, the Argentina International is a target of Lazio, even if Martin Caceres is the most popular name for the defence. The best Italian clubs are interested in signing the former Juventus man.
Albania Intrenational Ajeti is also free to sign for any club for nothing. His old club Frosinone faced relegation to Serie B last season, but he was among the most brilliant players for his national team at EURO 2016. Torino, Bologna and Pescara are keeping a close eye on him.
Maicon, Mexes and Konko used to be big names just a few years ago, but they can still be helpful for some medium club. Seydou Keita, Maresca, Brighi and KP Boateng can bring the experience any newly-promoted club is probably looking for, whilst Di Natale, Klose and Marco Borriello are waiting for the right club to end their playing career.
REST OF EUROPE – Gregory van de Wiel has negotiated a move to AS Roma, but has yet to find agreement with the giallorossi. Steve Mandanda is also available for nothing and will probably join a Premier League club.
Brazilian defender Douglas (pictured above) has left Dnipro and is on both Lazio and Fiorentina’s shortlist. He can be a very good deal given that he’s just 26. Reports from Germany are linking former Schalke 04 Roman Neustadter with a move to AS Roma. The versatile 28-year-old can play in defence and midfield.
Martin Harnik is another hot name coming from the Bundesliga. He can cover all positions in attack. Former Serie A players Flamini, Gourcouff and Bendtner are also waiting for a phone call like Thomas Rosicky who has not extended his deal with Arsenal.
Youngster Andrija Zivkovic, however, is probably the hottest name around Europe. The 20-year-old plays as offensive midfielder. He scored 24 goals in 93 appearances with Partizan Belgrade and has been linked with a move to Liverpool.
