Tavecchio: Italy will choose a manager BEFORE France 2016, Mourinho 'too expensive'

Big news on the Azzurri front.

Federation president Carlo Tavecchio has revealed to the media that Italy will choose a new manager before France 2016.

With manager Antonio Conte set to leave after the European Championships to join Premier League billionaires Chelsea, the hunt has been on for months to find a new manager.

"I don't want to reveal anything, because everything is ahead of us" Tavecchio told Premium Sport.

"I think we'll get to the Euros already knowing the name of Italy's new manager".

With many of Italy and Europe's top managers already spoken for, the name of Jose Mourinho, whose move to Manchester United is being called into question, has emerged in the running.

"Mourinho is available, but I think his salary is simply too high for us"

Tavecchio refused to speak further about candidates, however, saying that "we're taking time to think about it, these days the situation of many managers is evolving, it would be premature to talk about it now".
