Sources: Inter scout promising Italian defender
As we reported yesterday, new Inter owners Suning want to build the team of the future around a solid basis of Italian footballers. Francesco Acerbi and Mattia Darmian are on the nerazzurri watchlist, but Caldara is also one of those players who has impressed the most Inter scouts who will keep on monitoring him also during the next weeks.
Inter are likely to sign Mattia Darmian on a six-month loan from Manchester United in January, whilst they will also probably open negotiation talks for Acerbi. Caldara, however, could be a valid alternative to the experienced defender of Sassuolo.
Inter legend Beppe Bergomi had suggested his old club to sign Caldara a few years ago. Now that the 22-year-old defender has gained experienced at Trapani and Cesena in Serie B and with Atalanta in Serie A, Inter could make an attempt to sign him in the January window.
