Silvio Berlusconi is the only obstacle to AC Milan sale

Rumours and speculations over AC Milan’s sale are far from being over. Even if China group Alibaba has denied reports linking them with the club’s take-over and Baidu has refused to comment, what we certainly know is that a very wealthy, though anonymous Chinese group have made a formal bid to acquire a majority share of the Serie A club.

The interested party expects a definitive answer before the end of next week, but AC Milan could make a decision even before next Wednesday.

Fininvest wants to sell the club. Silvio Berlusconi’s group has already found economic agreement with China suitors and Mr. Berlusconi’s daughter Marina, the group’s directors and managers are trying to convince Berlusconi that selling the club is the only possible solution at this stage.

Berlusconi has been being Milan president for the last 30 years and has never been attracted by the idea of selling a majority share of the club. His decision to hire Cristian Brocchi as the team’s new coach proves how much impact he still wants to have on the club, but the AC Milan’s owner could soon change his mind.

Everything depends on him: Berlusconi has to agree on AC Milan’s sale or he will remain the club’s owner until the next offer arrives.
