Our shortlist:
Honorable mention: Franck Kessié
Kessié scored the winning penalty goal for Atalanta in their game versus Torino. The youngster has been impressive so far as his 4 goals in 3 matchdays puts him a top the Serie A scorers list. What is even more impressive is the fact that he was a defender who has just recently started to play as a midfielder.
5. Samir Handanovic
Even if Mauro Icardi turned out to be Inter's unsung hero, Handanovic saved Inter on numerous occasions as Pescara created many chances. This then eventually allowed Icardi to score the winning goal for De Boer's team.
4. José Callejon
When he is on his game, he is a force for Napoli. Callejon scored an important brace versus Palermo as he scored 2 goals early on in the second half to close the game off, as Napoli won 3-0.
3. Gonzalo Higuain
Another game and more goals for Juventus' new frontman Gonzalo Higuain. It did not take much time as he scored his first goal versus Sassuolo in the 5th minute of play before then scoring another 5 mintues later. He was instrumental in Juve's win versus Sassuolo.
2. Mauro Icardi
The pressure started to mount on Franck De Boer and on Inter, who managed to beat Pescara thanks to a Mauro Icardi brace. Pescara were leading 1-0 when Icardi first tied the game in the 77th minute and then scored the go ahead goal in stoppage time. The Inter captain proved his worth as the nerazzurri found a way back into the game.
1. Francesco Totti
What can we say about the 39 year old Italian legend? Roma were struggling as they were down 1-2 at half-time versus Sampdoria. Totti then came on and assisted Dzeko's tying goal before scoring the winning goal in stoppage time. The legend keeps on growing as Totti is our player of the week!
