Serie A, the data on attendances for 2015-16: Inter has the best, Juve also good, Lazio collapse down 41%

The Observatory of Italian football has released its figures for stadium attendances in Serie A for the 2015-16 season. There are signs of improvement (if only very small) on the previous campaign, with an average increase of 0.1% (22.078) compared to 22.057 in 2014-15.

    RECOVERY TOO WEAK
Despite the slight increase, this is the second worst average of the last five years: -6% compared to 2013/14 (23.481), -10. 4% relative to 2012/13 (24.655) and -4.9% compared to the season 2011/12 (23.214).

    INTER LEAD THE WAY
The nerazzurri had the biggest increase of fans in 2015-16 with an average attendance of 45.538, an increase of 22.2% on 2014-15 (37.270).

    JUVENTUS & NAPOLI ALSO GOOD
Juventus come next with an average attendance of 38.628, a 0.2% rise on 14-15. The podium is completed by Napoli whose average this season totalled 37.777, an increase of 17.1% on the previous campaign.

    MILAN GROWS, ROMA FALLS
Milan are also in the top five with an average of 37.655 along with Roma (35.182) but the statistics are a little misleading here. The Rossoneri, despite a negative season, have recorded a 2.7% increase compared to last year. The Giallorossi average has decreased by -12,3 % with respect to the 2014/15 season that, with an average of 40.135 was one of the best in the country. Fiorentina also record a negative figure of-5.2%.

DISASTER FOR LAZIO, GOOD NEWS FOR TORINO
The biggest drop however is in the capital, with Lazio recording an average attendance of just 20.465 which is an enormous drop of 41.4% on 2014-15. Torino on the other hand, have seen crowds rise to an average of 19.392; an increase of 16.2%
