Serie A striker comparison: Mandzukic and Icardi more clinical than Higuain

With 16 goals netted in 17 games, Gonzalo Higuain is the current Serie A top scorer and probably the best player of the whole league.

But if the Argentinean’s scoring record will be probably unreachable for any other player during this campaign, there four Serie A strikers who have a better ratio of goals per shot than the former Real Madrid hit-man, who has scored 16 goals from 36 shots on target (44%).

Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic has netted six goals from just eight shots (75%), while Inter’s Mauro Icardi has 7 from 11 attempts (64%).

Carlos Bacca is the third best Serie A striker in terms of goals per shot ratio. The Colombia International has scored 8 goals out of 15 shots (53%).

Fiorentina’s new signing Nikola Kalinic has attempted 20 shots, scoring 10 goals (50%).

No surprise that Roma ‘hit-man’ Edin Dzeko has recorded the worst record among Serie A’s top club strikers with three goals from 21 shots (14%).
