Scouting Report: Juventus jump to the front of the queue for Caldara

Juventus are planning for the future as they have constantly stated in recent months. Despite having the financial muscle to bring some of the world’s top talent to Turin, CEO Beppe Marotta is anxious to add bright young home-grown talent to the squad and the player that has jumped to the front of the queue is Atalanta centre-half Mattia Caldara.

Born in Bergamo, the 22-year-old has been at the club since he was a junior, and after being nurtured in the club’s famed youth academy, he spent two seasons out on-loan at Trapani and Cesena respectively. This season however, he has returned to his parent club and is gaining rave reviews with some outstanding performances as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side hit the upper echelons of Serie A. Tuttosport has claimed this morning that the champions have already presented an offer to La Dea for their star defender.

Bianconeri executives got a chance to watch the player close up on Saturday evening as they brushed aside this season’s surprise package 3-1 at the J Stadium. Caldara has a big few months ahead of his as he will be an integral part of Luigi Di Biaggio’s Italian Under-21 side that will head to the European Championships in Poland.
