The President of Universidad de Chile, Carlo Helles, has announced that their former coach Jorge Sampaoli is in negotiations to become Lazio boss.

Sampaoli, who guided Universidad de Chile to 3 titles, landed in Rome earlier today where the ex-Chile coach was set to reportedly meet with Lazio President Claudio Lotito over the Biancocelesti job.

A suggestion which was confirmed by a tweet from Sampaoli’s old President Carlo Helles, which read: "Sampaoli will meet with Lazio management today, but he knows I will offer him more money to come back here!"

Who knows what the current Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi will be thinking. The ex-striker won’t have given up hope on being confirmed next season after winning 4 of his 6 matches in charge since taking over from Stefano Pioli.
