ROMANO: Milan or the NT for Montella

ROMANO: Milan or the NT for Montella

After the game lost to city rivals Genoa last Sunday, the situation at Sampdoria has become extremely tense. The club’s Sporting Director Carlo Osti has accused the team for its attitude on the pitch, and, as well known, its head coach Vincenzo Montella is not in good terms with part of the executive board, especially Osti himself.

It will be difficult to manage such a situation during the next season, unless Montella won’t really leave; the former Fiorentina boss is in fact waiting for an important call, either the national team, or AC Milan. Montella’s agent Alessandro Lucci has recently met the Lombard club’s Chief Executive Adriano Galliani, but probably the two have talked only about another Lucci’s client – Andrea Bertolacci. Moreover, it’s not yet sure that the rossoneri’s current boss Cristian Brocchi will quit his post, especially because he is backed by Silvio Berlusconi.

However, the Ligurian club’s president Massimo Ferrero, who made an important effort to bring the 42-year-old to the Luigi Ferraris, is aware of the situation, and also considering the fact that Montella has an extremely high salary, could accept to negotiate on his €1m release clause.
