Antonio Rudiger is, unfortunately, among one of the many players who have missed out on Euro 2016 due to injury.

The Roma defender spoke to the Bild this morning about this morning about his recent operation to heal a torn ACL, one which took 45 minutes.

“I can walk without crutches,” he told Bild, “my recovery is going according to plan”.

“Loew told me I’d be back soon. He even wrote me after the operation, as did many players: Emre Çan, Julian Draxler, Lukas Podolski, Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira, Mario Götze, Shkodran Mustafi… my Whatsapp was full”.

The 23-year-old  Roma defender also had some interesting things to say about his future at the club...

“I have a contract and I’m happy in Italy. I need to get better now and get back to working hard. Then we’ll see what the future holds…”
