Revealed: Berlusconi's plan to keep Milan if Chinese don't meet deadline
Milan chairman Silvio Berlusconi has a plan to keep the Rossoneri at least until the end of next season, while keeping all decisional powers and obtaining another €100 million from the Chinese Consortium.
How?
As we’ve written before, time is money for the Chinese investors who aim to buy AC Milan, with December 13th the deadline for the sale of the club.
From what we read in today’s Repubblica, it looks like the doubts about Yonghong Li’s ability to come up with the €420 million are justified, and that the Consortium has a Plan B in case they’re unable to collect funds from Asia, namely obtaining high-interest loans from European banks.
Hardly ideal. Trouble is, the investors are set to forfeit the €100m they’ve already poured into Milan’s coffers if they’re unable to finalize the sale by the deadline date. So what can they do? La Repubblica claim that Silvio Berlusconi has extended them a lifeline, offering to keep the club until the end of the season, with full control over proceedings… for an additional €100m.
The old fox may well have a few tricks up his sleeve left after all!
