REPORT: Why Niang may become a key ingredient in Montella's Milan
A number of hints seem to point that way. Firstly, the fact that AC Milan's new Coach mentioned that the French talent fascinated him the most among the Rossoneri's current crop of talent.
“I want to understand him, to get to know him. I think he can do so much more”.
Until recently it appeared that the club was fed up of the Frenchman's antics, his infamous swimming pool roof dive having driven Adriano Galliani bananas for the umpteenth time.
Instead, the likes of Niang seem to fit the type of player Montella has requested: namely, talented footballers who can cover a number of roles. He can also adapt to a number of systems, and is both talented and physical, more atributes that L'Aeroplanino is looking for.
Niang netted 8 times in 21 appearances last season, and the former Fiorentina Coach is expecting to see a whole lot more of that.
There's another factor which is keeping Niang in Milan: if the Bacca to West Ham sale we reported on yesterday goes through, the one Premier League club that was willing to spend big bucks on Niang may suddenly find itself strapped for cash.
Admittedly, Niang had expressed an interest in moving to England, and Leicester City and Everton are still reportedly in the hunt. Then again, Milan may not want to lose two big guns in one go, and the 21-year-old also appeared happy in training, as we can see from his instagram profile.
