REPORT Erick Thohir meets PSG owner, wants Aurier, Qatari investment!
What was Erick Thohir doing at the Stade de France on Tuesday? It wasn't just to watch PSG defeat Chelsea, that's for sure.
The Indonesian magnate was actually looking for an ally, someone to help Inter Milan get back on its feet after a few years in the wilderness. A good place to start would be PSG's president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Reports are that Inter want both Gregory van der Wiel, whose contract runs out this summer... as well as Serge Aurier, whose profanity-laced outburst at both his team-mates and managers has done the rounds on social media, and has essentially determined his departure from the Parc des Princes.
Before his troubles, Aurier was one of Ligue 1's best full-backs, and someone who had earned a starting berth at PSG through a string of energetic performances. He's the kind of player who can make a difference. Another option?#
What about that other troublemaker (though nowhere near as bad) Adrien Rabiot? The Beneamata wants him too, the only problem is that he costs €15 million (Van der Wiel's salary would also be pretty high). Inter hope to seal some sort of alliance with the Parisian club, and hope to lower the price that way.
Whilst we obsess about football transfers, Erick Thohir also wanted something rather more important from Al-Khelaifi: investment.
Representing the Qatari Sports Investment fund, Al Khelaifi has already managed to put its logo on Barcelona's shirt, and become PSG's main sponsor. With the Nerazzurri needing funds to be pumped into the club, could this be the solution?
