    REPORT: Newcastle hot on Taarabt's heels

    A terrible start to the season has made Benfica sour on Adel Taarabt. The former QPR magician is increasingly close to leaving the Estadio da Luz in January.

    According to Portuguese sports newspaper O Jogo, Newcastle are interested in signing the former Milan player.

    Though manager Steve McLaren is on the brink, the Magpies have a history of recruiting Frenchmen, with Yohann Cabaye, Gabriel Obertan, Sylvan Marveaux, Emmanuel Riviere and Mapou Yanga-M’Biwa.
