REPORT: Milan target Di Francesco will manage Sassuolo next season
With Cristian Brocchi taking over at Milan until next season, many were wondering whether the Primavera manager was being used to keep the seat warm for Di Francesco, who was even personally complimented by Silvio Berlusconi the last time Sassuolo visited the San Siro (and lost, 1-0).
Not according to local paper La Gazzetta di Modena, which claims that, despite this poor run of form, Di Francesco is not only not threatened... but is very likely to extend his deal with the Neroverdi and stay for at least another season.
Di Francesco promoted the Emilian side (which hails from a town of only 40.000 inhabitants) in 2012-2013, and has since led it to a 17th and 12th-placed finish. He is credited with instituting a spectacular, pass-oriented style of play, which is pleasing on the eye and has allowed talents like Domenico Berardi and Nicola Sansone to bloom.
