Prosecutor seeks six-months suspended sentence for next Chelsea boss Antonio Conte
Conte is accused of committing sports fraud during his time as Siena manager, back in 2011. Allegation refers to one of Siena’s Serie B game which ended with Antonio Conte’s side 1-0 win over Albinoleffe.
Roberto Di Martino has also requested a € 8.000 euro fine and a ruling is expected to be made by the middle of May.
However, in case Conte will be found guilty he could then appeal to the Court of Appeal and the Court of Cassation. Under the Italian law, Conte would be only found guilty if all appeals are rejected, that’s why today’s request does not affect his chances of becoming the next Chelsea boss.
Conte, 47, won three successive Serie A titles with Juventus before becoming senior Italy national team coach, a role that he won’t be covering anymore after this summer’s EURO 2016 as the Italian tactician has just signed a three-contract agreement with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
