Pogba to Manchester United: Details of Raiola’s commission bonanza revealed
“Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that an agreement has been finalized with Manchester United Football Club Limited for the definitive transfer of the registration rights of the player Paul Labile Pogba for a consideration of € 105 million to be paid in two financial years. The consideration may increase of € 5 million on achieving given conditions in the course of the duration of the contract. The economic effect is positive for about € 72.6 million, net of solidarity subsidy and auxiliary expenses”, the statement reads.
If Pogba joined Juventus for free four years ago, why have the club not registered a capital gain of € 105 million?
Juventus specify that the sum is ‘net of solidarity subsidy and auxiliary expenses’. The solidarity subsidy is a sum of roughly € 2 million that Juventus have to pay to Manchester United as Pogba grew up in the Red Devils’ academy before moving to Juventus.
Analyzing Juventus’ balance sheet we notice that Juventus did not register Pogba’s signing as a free agent, but they added Raiola’s € 6 million commission to the player’s price.
The remaining € 27 million still belong to Raiola as that is the sum agreed four years ago with Juvenuts in case of a future sale of the Frenchman.
Juventus have paid € 2 million to Manchester United, € 27 million to Raiola and used € 6 million to level Pogba’s price-tag, which means they’ve cashed in € 73 million. Napoli registered a similar capital gain with Higuain when they sold the Argentinean to Juventus last month.
An amazing deal, probably the deal of the century, but without Raiola, Juventus could have made more money.
