Pjanic: the jewel of the transfer market, now only one replacement for Pogba

Juventus boss Massimo Allegri has given a clear indication that he will experiment with a new system in Sunday’s friendly match against West Ham United in London. The tactician will start the match with a 4-3-1-2 formation that will see the introduction of new striker Gonzalo Higuain at some stage during the 90 minutes. The most important news however, concerns midfielder Miralem Pjanic and his role within this line-up.

    PJANIC THE DIRECTOR
The Bosnian international is proving to be a valuable asset to Allegri’s team and the season is still a couple of weeks from starting; the coach has already utilised the 26-year-old as an attacking midfielder, playing just behind the forwards but tomorrow, as Allegri explained in his press-conference earlier, he will be the director sitting just in front of the back-four; a role in the past that has belonged to Hernanes and Lemina, who both failed to impress.

TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE
If Sunday’s experiment proves successful, it will be a triumph on the transfer market for Allegri who may have the ready-made replacement for Paul Pogba already in the ranks. With his adaptability, Pjanic has ensured that Juventus will only need one new midfielder from this window, someone who can play in the classic midfield role in the centre of the field; maybe the farewell of Pogba will not turn out to be a huge regret after all.
