Paper Talk: former Milan boss hits out at Berlusconi, Chelsea resume interest in AS Roma stars

Former AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic has released an interview with Il Corriere dello Sport, revealing that AC Milan would be a weaker and poorer side if he hadn’t take some key decisions for the club when he was in charge of the rossoneri last term.

The Serbian tactician has hit out at President Silvio Berlusconi who did not back him many times last season. “He [Berlusconi] didn’t want to give Donnarumma his senior debut. I told him that if he wanted to play Diego Lopez instead, he should have sacked him.”

“Berlusconi didn’t want to buy Alessio Romagnoli either. I insisted that it would have been a good investment for the club and that I would have paid the difference if one day he’d have sold Romagnoli for less than € 25 million.”

“We had a bad start to the season because I played the 4-3-1-2 that he wanted me to use. When I changed the system, we got better results.”

Mihajlovic’s interview is not the only interesting news published on Italian papers this morning as La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that AS Roma stars Radja Nainggolan and Kostas Manolas are back on Chelsea’s sights as they have not found agreement for a new contract yet.

Manolas, 25, is also a target of Manchester United and AS Roma are reportedly not open to match his request of a new € 3 million-a-year deal. Nainggolan, signed a new contract with the club last season but is still waiting for a pay rise which he had been promised when he signed a new contract with the Serie A giants a few months ago.

If neither Manolas nor Nainggolan find agreement with AS Roma, Chelsea could offer them an escape from the Olimpico.
