Paper Talk: Buffon praised, Lippi set for China job

Juventus managed to snatch a crucial 1-0 win over Lyon in a Champions League clash played yesterday night saving a penalty kick in the first half and making two more stunning saves in the second part of the game. Buffon’s saves combined to Cuadrado’s winner, allowed Juventus to win for 1-0 and to make a huge step forward for the qualification to the knock-out stage.

All the Italian papers out this morning praise the 38-year-old goalkeeper whose rating is 9 out of 10 in every newspaper: from La Gazzetta dello Sport to Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport.

After the final whistle Buffon released an interview with Mediaset Premium moaning for the poor treatment he received from some newspapers and TVs after two successive mistakes against Spain and Udinese.

“They thought my funeral was close. If they want to go to the ceremony, they’ll found nobody there.”

Meantime, former coach of Buffon at Juventus and Italy national team Marcello Lippi is close to becoming the next boss of China national team.

With one point in just four games, China sit in the last position of their world cup qualifier group. Lippi will be flying to China in the next few days to discuss the Chinese FA’s offer.

Il Corriere dello Sport exclusively reports that Lippi has been personally named by  President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.
