Paper Talk: Inter turn to Newcastle's Sissoko; Wolfsburg do a U-turn on Hammers target Zaza

Inter have made contact with representatives of Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko. Corriere dello Sport claims that the nerazzurri have targeted the 27-year-old, as an alternative to Joao Mario; whose arrival in Italy is looking increasingly unlikely. It seemed as though the deal for the Sporting Lisbon man was virtually secured but with Inter bound by UEFA financial fair-play regulations, his reported €45 million transfer looks to have hit the buffers.

Although Joao Mario has stated that he wants a move to Serie A, the two clubs cannot agree on a compromise of an initial loan with a view to a permanent move. European football’s governing body has also stated that it is not in favour of a deal such as this so the journal suggests that the club has turned to plan B in an attempt to gift new boss Frank de Boer a new signing before the closure of the transfer window.

Tuttosport also claims this morning that Wolfsburg have rekindled their interest in West Ham target Simone Zaza. The 25-year-old Italian had been set for a move to Germany this week but the Wolves opted for Mario Gomez instead. West Ham have expressed their interest in the player but this morning’s reports suggest the Bundesliga club are not out of the running.

According to Sportitalia, Napoli will secure the services of Bologna midfielder Amadou Diawara on Monday or Tuesday next week. The 18-year-old has been linked to several clubs including Aston Villa.
