Paper Talk: Witsel wants Juve but Juve want Matuidi; Chievo move in for Super Mario; Lamela missing Roma
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Belgian International midfielder Axel Witsel has his heart set on a move to Juventus. His father, and agent, has made new contact with bianconeri CEO Beppe Marotta to try to push his son towards Turin. His current employers, Zenit St Petersburg are now waiting for a potential offer from the Italian giants to try to finalise an agreement.
Tuttosport meanwhile, has a different take on proceedings. The Turin based daily states that Juventus are targeting PSG’s Blaise Matuidi as replacement for the departed Paul Pogba. The 29-year-old looks to be on his way out of the French champions and the bianconeri are reportedly about to test the waters with a €20 million offer. The journal claims that this will not be enough however, with the Parisians holding out for €30 million. Another stumbling block on any potential move will be the player’s salary; Matuidi currently earns €5.5 million per season in Paris, an amount Juve are not prepared to match.
