PAPER TALK: Napoli search for Higuain successor; Szczesny close to Roma return; Menez turns down move to Abu Dhabi
After yesterday’s astonishing news regarding the sale of Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus, Napoli are wasting no time finding a replacement. The number one target according to both La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport is Inter striker Mauro Icardi. Both journals state that the vesuviani has made an initial offer of €30 million plus striker Manolo Gabbiadini; an offer which has been flatly refused by the nerazzurri. According to the players wife and agent Wanda Nara, he will not be leaving the San Siro for anything less than €50 million.
It seems as though Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will return to Roma for another season on-loan. The 26-year-old impressed many onlookers last season and in particular, coach Luciano Spalletti when he was installed as new boss in January. The Tuscan tactician has been anxious to tie the Polish international down to another season and according to Corriere dello Sport, an agreement with the Gunners is close.
