OH DEAR: No Italians in Euro 2016's Best XI

OH DEAR: No Italians in Euro 2016's Best XI

It's been a good start for Antonio Conte's Italy, not so much for the individual talent that makes up his team. Following the end of the Euro 2016 Group stage, Opta published a Best XI, and not a single Italian is in it.

There are, however, three Germans, two Croatians, but only one Serie A player, Inter's Ivan Perisic.

TOP 11 (4-2-3-1): McGovern (NIR); Srna (CRO), Schar (SUI), Boateng (GER), Hector (GER); Kroos (GER), Witsel (BEL); Perisic (CRO), Iniesta (ESP), Payet (FRA); Bale (WAL).

Though Axel Witsel's presence is a tad dubious, the lack of Italians may be indicative not just of the Azzurri's unspectacular play, but also of Coach Conte's focus on the collective.

Let's hope it takes Italy far.
