Official: Stefano Pioli rescinds with Lazio, to be announced by Inter in coming hours

Stefano Pioli is free of his current deal with Lazio, the sign that he is about to take over at Inter Milan.

Lazio have announced the news on their website:

S.S. Lazio announce that was terminated the employment contract with Stefano Pioli and his staff.
S.S. Lazio thanks Pioli and his staff for the work done, and wishes them all the best for the future.

Appointed in June 2014, Pioli led Lazio to third place in Serie A in the 2014/2015 season, only to see his squad not be reinforced the following season, leading to a string of bad results and his sacking this April.

The news is of particular relevance to Inter fans, who have been waiting for Pioli to be officially announced as the Nerazzurri's new Coach. The former Bologna, Sassuolo and Chievo Coach is known for his tactical nous, but also for being a safer pair of hands than Marcelino, his alternative to the post.

The Spaniard was alleged to be less-company friendly, having asked for full powers, which would have led to an earthquake at San Siro.
