No playing time: Manolo Gabbiadini set for Napoli exit
As CM.com’s Giovanni Scotto points out, the Italian hotshot attracted the interest of many European clubs last January, so much so Swansea had made an attempt to sign him.
However, Napoli rejected all approaches for their striker, increasing the player’s hopes to get more game time until the end of the campaign.
Unfortunately for him, Maurizio Sarri has not swapped his favorite 4-3-3 system with a 4-4-2 where Gabbia could have been deployed as Gonzalo Higuain’s strike partner. Results suggest the Partenopei gaffer was right, though his unhappy forward has watched Higuain starting each Serie A game this term.
As we’ve previously mentioned, Gabbiadini is only considered a back-up to the Serie A leading scorer as Maurizio Sarri doesn’t see him playing on the flanks.
Representatives from the club will meet Gabbiadini’s entourage at the end of the season to hold talks regarding the player’s future. There are still lot of clubs around Europe interested in welcoming his services, while Lazio are one of those Serie A sides which are expected to make a bid this summer.
Should Higuain stay at the San Paolo next season, Manolo Gabbiaidini and Napoli will surely part company this summer.
