Napoli: stats prove Milik is the right striker to replace Gonzalo Higuain

Napoli are going to replace new Juventus player Gonzalo Higuain with (former) Ajax star Arkadiusz Milik. The Poland International will undergo medical with the partenopei tomorrow and our friends at OPTA have compared the figures of both players at 22, which is Milik’s age.

Gonzalo Higuain was playing for Real Madrid when he had the same age of his Napoli counterpart and stats underline that Milik and Higuain have a similar goal-per game ratio.

Milik scored 21 goals (2 from the spot) for Ajax last term, whilst Higuain netted 22 goals (3 from the spot) in the 2008-09 campaign, which mean the Argentinean had a 0.65 goal-per-game ratio at Real Madrid, whilst Milik’s set to 0.68.

Juventus’ new signing, however, created 56 goal chances back in the days at Real Madrid (1.65 each game), Milik created ‘just’ 32 for Ajax last season (1.03 per game) proving, however, to be a complete striker having also netted six goals with headers.

The arrival of Milik does not mean Npoli are not going to make everything possible to sign unhappy Inter striker Mauro Icardi.

Meantime, Maurizio Sarri can be happy because it seems that Milik has all the potential to fill Gonzalo Higuain’s boots at the San Paolo.
