Napoli's chance to win the title going forward
Given the exits and injuries that have recently plagued the team it's not ridiculous that there has been something of a dip in form for Juventus. The midfield has been out of sorts since the trading of Pogba, and the injuries to both Claudio Marchisio and Stefano Sturaro certainly haven't helped. We've further discussed the injuries plaguing the club's backfield. However, Federico Mattiello is nearly recovered from a nasty fibula injury and the signing of Miralem Pjanic is starting to pay off. When everything comes together you can bet that the team will be back on top where they belong. Pjanic looked great during the team's recent match against Dinamo Zagreb opening the scoring for Juventus and is beginning to blossom into the midfielder fans have hoped he'd be.
The resounding victory over Dinamo Zagreb has helped to dispel the team's naysayers. The club notched four goals in their Champions League match with new striker Gonzalo Higuain putting away a goal of his own. ESPN FC has reported that, regardless of the victory, the former Napoli forward has said that he is still getting used to his new surroundings and that the club is yet to reach its best. That being said, things are steadily improving. Higuain was the top scorer in the league last year with 36 goals for Napoli and has already scored four times in six matches as a Juventus player.
While Juve might not be at 100 percent yet, they remain at the top of the Serie A table, but Napoli are close behind. Napoli are having a strong season of their own and are favored by the experts to win their escape their own Champions League group stage. After finishing in second place in the league once again last year, Napoli are looking to finally win their first Serie A title since 1990. As of this writing, the Blues only sit one point behind Juventus in the league and are also performing well in their Champions League group. The team may have lost their top striker to their biggest rival, but the experts at Betfair continue to favor Napoli's chances going forward. The site has gone on record calling Napoli the stronger team overall when it comes to their Champions League group, and that they're head and shoulders above the likes of Besiktas and Dynamo Kyiv.
As far as Italy goes, Juventus are still clearly the team to beat, but Napoli shouldn't be counted out just yet. We fully expect both teams to make it out of their respective group stages in European play. However, when it comes to the Serie A, they're the only two teams that matter in what's sure to be a bitter fight to the end.
