Napoli re-open the track to a new striker

Yesterday’s defeat to Roma opened up a fresh wound for Napoli and the vesuviani are now reconsidering a move to bring in a short-term replacement for the injured Polish striker Arek Milik. With Manolo Gabbiadini failing his audition on Saturday to be the man to fill the void, a lok around Europe for players who could arrive on a free transfer looks set to begin in earnest.

BETWEEN KLOSE & THE PLANS OF THE CLUB:
The first choice was to go with Gabbiadini and it’s believed he will get two more chances to shine against Besiktas in the Champions League this week and Crotone next weekend. With Belgian international Dries Mertens preferred in a false nine role, the name that is still on top of the list is former German international Miroslav Klose. The 38-year-old has already expressed an interest to talk with the club and his shadow hangs over Gabbiadini and will continue to do so for the next seven days.
