Napoli pounce on Valencia’s André Gomes

With Maurizio Sarri who is short of options in the middle of the pitch, Napoli want to sign a strong central midfielder in January who could hold a candle to Allan, Marek Hamsik and Jorginho.
According to the Italian paper Il Corriere dello Sport, the Partenopei are interested in Valencia’s André Gomes. Aurelio De Laurentiis is eager to bring in young players with an important International pedigree and the 22-year-old player seems to be the answer to presidential needs.
He is a product of both Porto and Boavista Academy but he moved to Benfica when he was only 19. After losing the 2014 Europe League final against Sevilla FC he left the Portuguese side to join Valencia on loan with a € 15 million buyout clause.
He blazed a trail during his first spell at the Estadio Mestalla plundering four goals in 33 games but his experience with the La Liga side was wrecked by a muscle injury that forced him out four months.
Although he has recently extended his contract with the club until 2020, Valencia’s Champions League exit could lead André Gomes to consider Napoli move.
