Napoli offer Ghoulam new contract to ward off Chelsea interest

Napoli and Faouzi Ghoulam have entered new contract talks, Sky Sport Italia reports. The 25-year-old defender is imposing himself as one of the best left-backs in Serie A, so much so reports from England claim that Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have added the Algeria International to their transfer wishlist.

The former Saint Etienne defender’s contract with the Serie A giants runs until 2018, but Ghoulam is said to be willing to sign a contract extension with the club that signed him in January 2014 for just € 5 million.

Ghoulam will join Algeria national team to play the African cup of Nations in January and Chelsea are believed to be considering making an offer of £ 24 million to welcome the player’s services in the winter transfer window.

The player, however, is likely to snub a move to the Stamfrod Bridge signing a contract extension with the partenopei. Ghoulam has registered five assists in 18 games in all competitions so far this season.
