Napoli go for broke, chase Liverpool target Zielinski, Amadou Diawara!

As we’ve mentioned on a number of occasions, Napoli are hoping to reinforce their midfield this summer, and seem to be scouting out Maurizio Sarri’s former Empoli protégés.

With reports linking the Campanian side to Matias Vecino, today’s Gazzetta claims that he won’t leave for anything less than €20 million, three more than what Napoli have offered.

Same goes for Piotr Zielinski, another player who has previously worked with Sarri and who has scored five goals in 63 Serie A appearances in two seasons with Empoli. The Polish international is, however, on loan from Udinese, and the Zebrette have let Napoli know that he won’t be available for anything less than €18m. The alternative, according to the Corriere dello Sport, is to give away Duvan Zapata, a striker Sarri is willing to sacrifice. Having previously swapped the likes of Inler, Allan and Britos, the two clubs are on good terms.

Another alternative for the midfield: how about Amadou Diawara? The Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Napoli are willing to swap him with Manolo Gabbiadini. Valued at €25m, the Partenopei would part with the Italian striker and Mirko Valdifiori (another former Empoli man) in exchange for Diawara, with Bologna hoping to balance things out by throwing in a €10m kicker.

Gabbiadini, 24, netted six Serie A goals with Bologna back in the 2012-2013 season, and was one of the Felsinei’s star players.
