Fans at Old Trafford are giddy since reports broke yesterday that Manchester United are looking to nab West Ham star Dimitri Payet.
It has emerged, however, that the 29-year-old will cost them a massive £35million (€40m), according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (via the Metro).
Having acquired him for €12m last season from Marseille, the Frenchman had a breakout season, smashing in nine Premier League goals and earning a call-up to France’s Euro 2016 campaign.
There’s more: the Hammers are afraid that Payet has let all the speculation affect his performances. He’s only netted one goal in league action this season, his four assists comparing better with the twelve he registered in the last campaign.
The report has Jose Mourinho literally falling in love with the former Saint-Etienne man, who broke open France’s opener against Romania with a last-minute stunner.
The Red Devils has struggled to play attacking football this season, often flattering to deceive in front of goal with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all either floundering or losing out in terms of playing time.
